Data Analyst

UnitedHealth Group is looking for a Data Analyst to join our Boston office. In this role, you'll work with large datasets to uncover insights that help drive business decisions across our organization. You'll spend your time analyzing data, building reports, and presenting findings to stakeholders who rely on your work to make strategic choices. This is a hands-on position where you'll get to work with real data and see the direct impact of your analysis.

• Extract, clean, and validate data from multiple sources to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Build and maintain dashboards and reports that track key business metrics and performance indicators
• Perform statistical analysis on datasets to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies
• Document your analytical methods and findings so others can understand and replicate your work
• Present data insights to business leaders and department heads in clear, actionable formats
• Collaborate with IT and database teams to access data and troubleshoot data quality issues
• Support ad-hoc analysis requests from various departments and provide timely results
• Recommend improvements to existing reports and data collection processes
• Assist in developing new metrics and KPIs aligned with business objectives

• 2-4 years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or a related field
• Proficiency with SQL for querying and manipulating data
• Strong experience with Excel including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data visualization
• Familiarity with at least one data visualization tool such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker
• Ability to explain technical findings to non-technical audiences
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
• Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, economics, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Experience with Python or R for statistical analysis
• Knowledge of healthcare data, insurance claims, or medical billing processes
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
• Experience with database management systems beyond SQL
• Previous experience working in an Agile environment
