Senior React Engineer (Python Systems Experience Required) Role Overview
We are hiring a Senior React Engineer who has not only mastered modern frontend engineering, but has personally completed at least one large, production-grade Python project.
This role is for engineers who understand systems end-to-end, not just UI layers. If you have never owned a substantial Python codebase in production, this role is not a fit.
NON-NEGOTIABLE REQUIREMENT: MASSIVE PYTHON PROJECT
You must have designed, built, and shipped a large-scale Python project, such as:
A backend system, API platform, or internal framework
A data processing, automation, or orchestration system
A machine learning, analytics, or ETL pipeline
A distributed service, job scheduler, or tooling platform
“Massive” means:
Thousands of lines of Python code
Long-lived production usage
Real users, real data, real consequences
Ownership of architecture, not just contributions
You will be expected to explain this project in detail: architecture, tradeoffs, failures, scaling decisions, and long-term maintenance.
What You’ll Do
Architect and build complex React and Next.js applications with long-term scalability in mind
Design frontend systems that integrate deeply with Python-based backends and services
Apply systems thinking learned from backend Python work to frontend architecture
Collaborate with backend, data, and infrastructure teams as a true full-stack peer
Make architectural decisions informed by real production experience, not abstractions
Mentor engineers and raise the bar on engineering rigor across teams
Frontend Requirements
Expert React (Hooks, Concurrent Rendering, Server Components)
Advanced TypeScript with strict typing discipline
Next.js (App Router, SSR, ISR, performance optimization)
Deep understanding of browser rendering, state management, and performance
Python & Systems Requirements
Strong Python experience (e.g. FastAPI, Django, Flask, Celery, asyncio, multiprocessing)
Experience designing APIs, background jobs, or data pipelines in Python
Understanding of system boundaries, scaling bottlenecks, and failure modes
Comfort reasoning about performance, memory, concurrency, and reliability
Ability to translate backend constraints into intelligent frontend architecture
Testing, Reliability & Delivery
Frontend testing: Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright or Cypress
Python testing: pytest, integration and system-level tests
CI/CD pipelines integrating frontend and Python services
Experience shipping code that cannot afford to break
