MIG Welder / Metal Fabricator

Northgate Fabrication is looking for a skilled MIG Welder / Metal Fabricator to join our day shift production team at the Northgate plant. This is a hands-on role at the heart of what we do — you will be working with metal every day, reading drawings, laying precise welds, and fabricating parts that leave our facility ready to perform.

We run a busy, well-equipped shop and we take quality seriously. You will be working alongside people who know their trade and take pride in it, and we expect the same from you.

• Perform MIG welding on mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium to drawing specifications and quality standards
• Interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, and fabrication blueprints
• Mark out, cut, grind, and fit metal components prior to welding
• Inspect completed welds visually and with basic measuring tools; correct any defects before sign-off
• Set up and maintain MIG welding equipment, reporting faults promptly
• Work to production targets on the day shift while maintaining a clean, safe workstation
• Collaborate with the fabrication team and report quality or safety concerns to the supervisor

• Proven experience as a MIG welder in a fabrication or manufacturing environment
• Ability to read and work from engineering drawings and weld symbols
• Solid knowledge of weld preparation, fit-up, and post-weld finishing (grinding, dressing)
• Good understanding of health and safety practice in a fabrication shop
• Welding qualification (e.g. City & Guilds, AWS, or equivalent) preferred but demonstrable experience considered
• Reliable, punctual, and able to sustain quality output across a full day shift
• Right to work in the applicable jurisdiction
