Dispatch Coordinator

Harbor Point Logistics is looking for a Dispatch Coordinator to manage our daily operations and keep our fleet moving efficiently. You'll be the central hub connecting drivers, customers, and management—handling everything from route planning and load assignments to real-time problem-solving. This role requires someone who can stay organized under pressure, communicate clearly, and think on their feet when unexpected situations arise.

• Assign loads and routes to drivers based on delivery schedules, vehicle capacity, and driver availability
• Monitor fleet movements throughout the day using dispatch software and communication systems
• Communicate with drivers via radio or phone to provide directions, handle delays, and address roadside issues
• Coordinate pickup and delivery times with customers to meet service commitments
• Track vehicle locations and ensure on-time performance for all scheduled runs
• Update dispatch logs and maintain accurate records of all assignments and communications
• Handle urgent requests and reroute deliveries when necessary to accommodate customer needs
• Troubleshoot operational issues such as vehicle breakdowns, traffic delays, or staffing gaps
• Communicate with management about fleet status, performance metrics, and any concerns
• Assist with basic scheduling and ensure adequate driver coverage for daily operations

• 3+ years dispatching a board of 15 or more drivers (LTL, drayage, or last-mile)
• Working knowledge of FMCSA hours-of-service rules and ELD exception handling
• Experience with a TMS or dispatch platform such as McLeod, TMW, or Samsara
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-moving environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Reliable transportation and ability to work on site in Baltimore, MD, 6am-4pm Monday to Friday
• Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions when problems arise
• Must be authorized to work in the United States; we do not sponsor visas

• Previous experience in dispatch, logistics, or transportation
• Familiarity with GPS tracking and fleet management systems
• Knowledge of the Baltimore area and regional routes
• Experience communicating with commercial drivers
